World’s First 8-Second C8 Corvette ZR1 by Boost District
Breaking into the 8-second range is a milestone for any modern performance platform. The C8 Corvette ZR1, it represents an entirely new benchmark. At Texas Motorplex, Boost District brought out its yellow C8 ZR1 with a clear goal: to prove what the platform could do with a carefully developed, track-tested setup.
The result was exactly what the team came for. The ZR1 ran 8.979 seconds at 157.18 mph, with a 1.459-second 60-foot, making it the world’s first 8-second C8 Corvette ZR1. For a car that is still early in its performance-development life cycle, that pass shows just how quickly the C8 ZR1 is evolving in the hands of an experienced forced-induction and Corvette performance shop.
The Record Run
The record-setting pass came during a Texas Motorplex track outing where the goal was not just to make a quick hit, but to push the ZR1 platform into new territory. After preparing the car and getting it unloaded at the track, Boost District made a solo pass that delivered the number everyone was chasing: 8.979 at 157.18 mph.

That 8-second pass was followed by more racing, including a 9.0 index run where the ZR1 went 9.166 at 157.35 mph. That consistency matters. A record pass is impressive, but repeatable performance is what turns a quick car into a proven package.
What Went Into the ZR1 Setup
This ZR1 is not an overcomplicated, one-off race-only setup. It is a combination of focused upgrades that work well together to help the car leave harder, accelerate cleanly, and perform at the track.
The ZR1 is using our Boost District Stage 2 package, with high-flow catalytic converters, a JB4 tuner, an aftermarket intake, and a drag-oriented wheel-and-tire setup with Mickey Thompson ET Street R rear tires.

The ZR1 currently retains the stock ECU while using the JB4 as part of the calibration approach. Watch the build video here.
Why This Matters for the C8 Platform
The ZR1 record is not just about one yellow Corvette. It is also a glimpse into what we do at Boost District. What we learn on the ZR1 we can transfer to the Stingray, Z06, and E-Ray platforms. Each C8 variant brings a different combination of engine, drivetrain, traction, and calibration challenges.
For Boost District customers, this type of record testing is more than entertainment. It becomes real-world research and development. Every launch, every pass, and every track adjustment helps refine the parts and packages that make these cars faster, more consistent, and more enjoyable to drive.
Track-Proven Development, Not Guesswork
A fast dyno number is exciting, but the track tells the full story. The ZR1’s 8.979-second pass required the entire package to work together: power delivery, traction, wheel speed, launch control, shift strategy, tire setup, and driver confidence. When a car goes 157 mph in the quarter mile and still backs it up with another strong pass, it proves the package is doing more than making peak power.
That is where our approach stands out. The team is not only building cars for impressive shop photos. We are testing them at the track, learning from every run, and applying that data to the next stage of C8 development!
